Price consistency · A quick check

The page says $28. The cart says $34.

Check the same item and price basis before calling a difference wrong.

Why it matters

An unexplained increase makes the shopper question the offer they just accepted.

The amounts here are illustrative. A higher cart total alone is not proof of a problem: compare unit prices for the same option, quantity and currency, with tax and shipping separated.

How ShopPath helps.

ShopPath compares visible purchase facts across captured checkpoints. Its screenshot analysis can flag a like-for-like price mismatch and cite the views your team needs to investigate.

Evidence your team can review
Review the selected option, visible unit price and matching cart line together, with explained fees kept separate.
A concrete next step
Give the evidence to your pricing or theme owner and compare a fresh run after correction.

Unreadable prices or explained differences are not proof of a defect. ShopPath does not authorize payment or verify an actual charge.

An established price-consistency requirement

Google Merchant Center requires product pricing to remain consistent through the shopping process, while allowing explained promotions and requiring applicable fee disclosures. Its requirements are not a ShopPath certification or a diagnosis of your store.

Compare the same price, not two totals.

  1. 01

    Fix the comparison.

Record the selected item, option, quantity, currency and current sale price. Separate a crossed-out regular price from the active offer.

  2. 02

    Read the cart breakdown.

Compare the unit price first. Check for clearly disclosed personalization, bundles, discounts, shipping or tax before identifying an unexplained difference.

  3. 03

    Correct the inconsistency.

Give the pricing or theme owner both views and the offer conditions. Correct the price source or presentation that caused the mismatch.

After the fix, repeat it.

Repeat the original option and quantity after the change. A consistent cart price does not validate payment totals or every promotion.

Check your own storefront.

Use a store you own or are authorized to test. Journeys stop at checkout entry, before submitting customer details or payment. Testing begins after approval.
