The product is ready to buy. A promotion opens over the button. Check the overlap at the moment it appears; a clean page before the popup is not the same state.
How ShopPath helps.
ShopPath navigates the page as it encounters it. Captured checkpoints and action evidence help your team locate an obstructed control; screenshot analysis can flag a visible overlap.
- Evidence your team can review
- Review the affected view and the step where the shopper could no longer progress, with a recording when available.
- A concrete next step
- Show the widget or theme maintainer the exact overlap, then compare a fresh run after the layout change.
Only encountered popup states are evidenced. One run does not exercise every timer, consent choice or physical device.
A documented usability problem
Baymard's live-chat research describes floating elements and overlays interrupting shopping, especially on small screens. Google also advises that landing-page popups should be dismissible and should not block product details. Neither source diagnoses your widget.
Check the button with the popup open.
- 01
Use a fresh session.
Open the product in a narrow view. Wait for timed chat, discount or cookie overlays to appear before judging the layout.
- 02
Try the normal route.
Check whether the control and popup close action are reachable. Dismiss ordinary overlays without submitting information; stop at unresolved human verification.
- 03
Give your team the state.
Save the overlap, URL, viewport and popup timing. Ask the widget owner to adjust its placement, size or trigger.
After the fix, repeat it.
Repeat the same popup timing and viewport after the change. Confirm that the product controls remain reachable both before and after dismissal.
Check your own storefront.
Use a store you own or are authorized to test. Journeys stop at checkout entry, before submitting customer details or payment. Testing begins after approval.
